Voila, Le Poncho!
It was the height of fashion,
and one size fit all!
Yes, French yarn companies specializing in luxury yarns publish poncho patterns: intarsia poncho patterns.
Few people know this; twenty five years ago, I spent my Junior in Lyons, France. At the time, pretty yarn was easier to find in France than the US; I used to stand outside French yarn stores and drool. At the time, most stores sold only one brand of yarn. If you wanted Pinguin, you bought at the Pinguin store. Need Phildar? Find the Phildar store.
Many stores had beautiful yarn but I found the most drool inducing yarns at Annie Blatt. I dreamed of buying their yarns; unfortunately, the price was well out of my reach.
So, do these fond memories incline me to like this poncho? Well. . . I’ve knit myself ponchos by machine; I wear them. As much as I would love to envelop myself in the soft fuzzy angora sold by Annie Blatt, I would not knit that particular poncho.

Please tell me if there is anywhere in South Africa that still sells Annie Blatt yarns.
I used to knit for their boutiques in Rosebank, Joahnnesburg in the 1980’s.
Thank you.
