Wow, 3 stitches/inch knits up fast. I’m half way done! Even better, I’m not going to run out of yarn.
So far, I cast on along the center front, and knit toward the armhole. I put the armhole stitches on waste yarn, and knit a few rows. Then I knit a full row including the armhole armhole stitches, and continued toward the center back.
The edges really curl. I hope this works out ok when I block. (The swatch did. Still, I always get nervous about these things. I’ve been known to block each piece as I finish when I hand knit a sweater.)
I showed this piece of knitting to my mother-in-law, who was mystified by the weird shape. To help her see this will really be a vest, I folded the piece along the armhole, pinned down the curling edges . Voila, half a vest!
I also took this picture. I’m hoping to finish in one or two days.

Yes. It’s variegated. The picture here is dark– it’s really more light blue-light brown etc. I think it’s going to be really cute.
