Gosh, why didn’t I do a better job googling for slipper ideas before I charted my slipper?!
I should have used eyelash for the tops of the slipper boots I just made. Drat!
“Chris Knits!” used the eyelash. Talk about cute! (If you want to use my pattern, you can just carry along a strand of eyelash when knitting the garter stitch top on my boot slippers. My slippers and Chris’s are shaped differently, but you’d get a similar effect. )
Ok.. so I missed out on the idea of using eyelash at the top. At least I didn’t end up with slippers like the ones shown at The YarnPath. “Slipper Chaotica” is a must read blog article for anyone who likes to do experimental knitting.
That slipper does not look comfy, but the next one does. Noriko shows slippers that look like they’d really, really stay on! (Well, mine stay on too. You just need to make them the right size! And, I do like my shaping in the back– that’s why I added that to the pattern!
)
Evidently, Noriko found the pattern at Super Eggplant who refers to them as “Random Ugly Technicolor Dream Slippers”. (I guess I’m not the only one to knit “Ugly cute slippers”. )
Not to be outdone, Norma vies for the ugly slipper prize. Her entry is shown in her article: Cute or Butt-Ugly?. She wants advice before she makes the second slipper sock to bring to her family’s gift exchange. My advice: Make the slipper. (Oh.. it’s too late. The blog was from before Christmas. Well, I hope Norma made the slipper sock.)
It’s not knitting, but it’s a slipper. But, I’m cheap thrifty. So, I can’t resist mentioning Mimi Kirchner’s article about making slippers from worn out felted sweaters. Now, I have a policy against making slippers that involve vise grips, so I probably won’t make these any time soon. But they are cute. It’s also a good thing for a knitter to about — in case you ever unintentionally felt your sweater.
Well, enough slipper surfing. I’m wondering if I should write a generator for the ones Noriko shows? Well, I probably will when my slipper boots wear out. Or, I bet you’re all wondering about the slippers pictured? I could use one of my old generators, and make elf slippers again! But, before I do, I need other people’s opinions:

Oh, I love those felted sweater slippers. I must try them. Maybe Goodwill shopping will
yield some Fair Isle sweaters. Thanks for the link to my blog.

Sorry your comment didn’t appear right away. I reset the spam filter, and now they should get through.
Thanks for the comment! I bet good will is a good source. It might not be a bad idea for felting material to make purses and stuff!

I think they would be much cuter with fanciful embellishments! PS - How do you get your comments to close after 14 days in WordPress? The spammers always go for the old stuff, and they’re giving me fits!

I’ve been thinking of bells or something, for costumes.

Oh, I forgot to add, I hate spam. I’ll email you the little program to autoclose comments. I saw the note on someone else’s web page and googled to find it. You can probably find additional advice by searchiing for manualAutoClose.php
If you have any spam killing tips, feel free to share.
