Grim.
Grey
Growing.
What gloomy gardener
would labor to grow grey blossoms?
I have this image listed in my notes as a kit to knit a pattern designed by Kaffee Fassett, but I didn’t note where I found it.
Could this really be a Kaffe Fassett? The man is acclaimed as a genius for creating bright colorful knits. He moved on to create bright colorful needlepoint, quilts, and dishes. Did he really design this deadly dull, yet quite enormous, intarsia flower?
I guess if he did, he must have designed this during his drab period.

That looks a bit like a lotus blossom - is it possible that the bright pink dye faded from the picture? If not, then it is quite perplexing.
Also, slightly too large for the model…

I agree. I think it looks like a lotus or some sort of floating pond lily. I imagine it in some color other than grey and floating on a blue or blue green background. And of course, either smaller, if plopped on clothing, or knit into an afghan or wall hanging so we could see the detail without all that weird folding and crumpling.

YEP! Look at some of his designs…it’s not about bright, but about blending color that he’s famous for! I recognize the flower design, as well. I think the flower is one color so that it shows up against the multicolored background.
