I like bulleted lists. I’m an engineer. (I know, you already guessed that.) Here goes:

JenLa announced their 2nd annual knit blog awards! They list tons of great blogs, and kindly list me as “Best Technical Help”! Yay!

The Bloggies is taking nominations for best blogs and they added a “Craft” category. 1
So, crafts is finally getting some respect in the blogosphere!
Visit the Bloggies and read their rules. I noticed these: you can nominate up to 3 blogs in a single category (example crafts), you may nominate yourself but you must nominate a total of at least 3 blogs. So, they force you to promote others while permitting shameless self promotion!
I’m sure you already know three blogs you could nominate. If you don’t, why not consult JenLa’s list or check out Joe’s ballot? (While you’re at Joe’s, vote! Jen La and I appear on various ballots. )
My first toe up Magic Loop sock is almost done.
The short row toe is “Almost Wendy’s” method I cut out two unnecessary rows of knitting; cutting theme out reduces the potential for holes when you pick up live stitches and start working the foot. (The “Almost Wendy” toe is programmed into my Sockulator III pattern generator.)
The heel is “Not Quite Denise’s”.
She gives directions for a a reverse Dutch Heel. But, when I knit my first sockulator sock” cuff down, I decided I preferred the “round heel”. Naturally, I still prefer this when I knit toe up! So, I figured out how to work the round heel turn backwards then seaming the heel flap to the gusset as I knit it. (Denise also seams as you go. The method is similar the way I work the sole of my slipper boots or felted purse, but I did have to engage my brain and think a bit about how to hide two particularly challenging wraps.)
I’m planning to post the sock pattern generator this week, and explain how I worked each step. There may be some delay depending on how well I took photos of some steps.

I want to chart out the Aran pattern shown to the left. If I suceed, can post the full pattern for Jim’s sweater. When I knit the sweater, I just charted by hand on graph paper, and only charted half the motif. I’d really like to chart it nicely so I don’t need to give instructions like “mirror for left half”.
