Crocheted Cape

My dear old granny
crochets beautiful blankets.
I wear them as capes.

Everything old is new again! I’m not sure this will keep your shoulders warm. It certainly won’t block the wind. Maybe it’s just a fashion statement? :)

Once again, this is from Adriafil

Today’s fashion tip:
The truly well dressed woman
wears matching items.

crochet oddities

Don’t you think these crocheted items look sort of like urns used to store cremains?

The pattern appeared in McCalls Neelework and Crafts Annual Volume III, 1953, published in the “sois dissant” American Fashion Capital, NY City! I think we can all clearly see how McCalls developed their reputation for fashion forward items, which they maintained all the way through the 90’s(I think. When did they finally go out of business?).

Poor Barbie is trapped.
Held prisoner by crochet.
Oh, please, release her.

I usually shrink images, but had to show a large image so you could see “Beaded Barbie” held captive in her crochet jail. The sculpture was created by Karen Search and exhibited in a show called “Image & Reality”. It’s from the Crochet guild of America.
